MD Anderson will expand its mission to end cancer by building a comprehensive cancer center in Austin, Texas, bringing world-leading expertise and compassionate care close to home for millions of Central Texans.


A new chapter in MD Anderson’s mission

 

People everywhere depend on MD Anderson to set the highest standard of cancer care, helping to save lives and to transform the patient experience. To extend this level of care to as many patients as possible, MD Anderson will build and operate a comprehensive cancer center in Austin, Texas. The project is expected to break ground in 2026, extending our world-class care model to Central Texas — expanding disease expertise, groundbreaking research operations, clinical trials access and unmatched compassionate care. Two cities, one mission: End cancer.

MD Anderson’s expansion to Austin directly supports our strategic goal of extending expert care and making it easier for patients and families to access our world-class services.

Multidisciplinary clinics and leading-edge care 

Our Austin center will feature inpatient and outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, laboratory medicine, surgery suites, radiation oncology and chemotherapy — all staffed exclusively by MD Anderson clinicians.

MD Anderson is working with The University of Texas System leadership and leading architecture and design firms to shape the Austin campus. As planning continues, patient experience remains the top priority. Philanthropy is essential to the project’s success. Every dollar invested in construction allows MD Anderson to expand capacity while preserving critical funding for research and patient programs.
