Houston Expansion

At MD Anderson, facilities play an essential role in delivering compassionate, expert care. With the upcoming additions of MD Anderson Sugar Land, South Campus Research Building 5, the Clinical Services Building and Patient Care Building 1, we strive to shape the next era of cancer care and discovery.

Elevating care for every patient

Our Houston expansion represents more than physical growth. As some of our largest and most advanced structures, these new spaces are a bold step toward accessible, patient-centered and technologically advanced cancer care.

Scheduled to open between 2026 and 2031, these facilities will expand outpatient and inpatient capacity, integrate the latest diagnostic tools and treatment modalities, and deliver safer, smarter and more personalized care.

As Texas’ population continues to grow, demand for cancer care is rising. Outdated facilities cannot keep pace, leading to delays and longer wait times. The additions on the horizon will address these challenges, expanding access to the institution ranked No. 1 in cancer care.

“I never imagined I’d still be here.”

When stage IV melanoma survivor Colleen Wittoesch joined an immunotherapy clinical trial in 2016, the most she hoped for was to help scientists better treat the disease. Now, almost 10 years later, she is still cancer-free — and a true believer in immunotherapy and MD Anderson.
